Chassis, has accepted a position on the staff of the International Union,

join the Officers, Shop Committee, Chief Stewards and Appointed Reps of Local
1700 in congratulating James Harris and wishing him the best in his new
position.
¢ Temporary Changes Pending Election
As
a result of James Harris moving to the International staff, the following
changes will be in effect as of July 9, pending an election to the fill the
vacancy for Division II Shop Committee Member:
¢ Brother Chuck Archard,
Committeeperson for Division III, Final, Reprocess and Indirect Labor, will be
the Chair of the Plant Shop Committee.
¢ Brother Gill Mack, Chief Steward
for District 12, Department 9150 on the day shift, will be the acting Shop
Committee Member for Division II.
¢ Brother Donald Addison will be
the acting Chief Steward for District 12, Department 9150 day shift.
¢ 66c Movement between Departments
¢ Movement between departments is
done through the 66c list, which draws its name from the section of the
national agreement that covers this type of transfer. Under this language, an
employee may apply to transfer to at most 6 different departments, and may
indicate 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or any shift.
¢ Applications for 66c movement
are made through the kiosk or through DashboardAnywhere.
¢ Applications to move through the
66c process are valid for one year. Therefore, an employee who has not been
able to move through this process must renew their application each year.
¢ When filling permanent openings
within a department, management will go to the 66c list and pull by SHAP
seniority from those who have been on the list at least 5 days. When filling
openings in several departments, management uses a standard order of
departments in order to remove any favoritism in the selection process.
¢ An employee who is tapped to
move to another department through this process must move. Therefore, an
employee who changes his or her mind about moving must cancel their 66c request
before a list is drawn. As a general rule, lists are drawn on Wednesday for
movement the following Monday.
¢ The only condition for moving is
being a seniority employee on the list for at least five days. Therefore, an
employee could have waited many months to move and, at the last minute, be
pushed down the list by a higher seniority employee, provided they were on the
list for at least five days.
¢ An employee who is moved through
the 66c process cannot request another such move for 6 months after they have
moved.
¢ Down Week June 25
¢ Production at SHAP will be down the
week of June 25. This is NOT a vacation shutdown week.
Employees who are laid off this week will receive unemployment compensation and
SUB, provided they are otherwise eligible. This week DOES NOT impact
your vacation leave of absence entitlement.
¢ Skilled trades are scheduled to
work 100%; other employees scheduled to work should have been notified by their
supervisor.
¢ Production is scheduled to
resume on Monday, July 2, 2012.
¢ SHAP management has advised the
union that the company will notify the State of Michigan of the relevant
information for all full time employees (including seniority, probationary, and
summer vacation replacement employees) who are laid off this week. As a result
of their notification to the state, you should receive something from MARVIN
that your claim has been opened. It is your responsibility to contact MARVIN if
you do not receive this notification and it is your responsibility to contact
MARVIN during the week of July 9 to secure your payment.
¢ Temporary Part-Time employees
must contact MARVIN directly.
¢ Employees who file for
unemployment in states other than Michigan must apply themselves.
¢ Local 1700 Office Closed for the Week of June 25
Due
to the plant shutdown during the week of June 25, the offices of Local 1700
will be closed. The local will reopen during normal hours on Monday, July 2,
2012.
¢ Production Running the Week of July 16
¢ Production is scheduled on both
shifts for the week of July 16. At this time, plant management has advised the
local union that they have provided replacement workers for those employees who
responded to management’s canvass last month.
¢ Each Center has a list of the
names of those approved for vacation for the week of July 16. Please check with
a management representative from your Center to verify your name is on the list
if you responded to their canvass that you had plans that could not be changed.
¢ If you have a problem, please
contact your Chief Steward.
