¢ Profit Sharing Payment
Chrysler
Group LLC has announced that a Profit Sharing payment will be paid out this
year to all eligible employees.
¢ Eligible Local 1700 members are
those full-time hourly employees who worked during calendar year 2011 and, at
the end of the year, were on the active roll, on layoff, or on an approved
leave of absence, including a leave for medical reasons. Employees who retired
in calendar year 2011 are also eligible to receive a payment.
¢ The maximum Profit Sharing
payment this year, based on the reported figures from the company, is $1,500.
To be eligible for the maximum payment, an employee must have been compensated
for 1,850 hours, or more, during calendar year 2011. Compensation is defined in
the agreement as actual hours worked, vacation and PAA, holidays, bereavement,
jury duty and short term military duty, as well as time spent on Workers’ Comp,
provided the employee was actively at work for at least one complete calendar
week in the calendar year.
¢ Time in excess of 1,850 hours
does not add to the Profit Sharing payment. An employee who has less than 1,850
compensated hours will receive a pro-rated payment based on their actual hours.
¢ Other forms of compensated time,
such as SUB and Short Work Week, or Sick & Accident pay, do not count
towards the 1,850 hours for a maximum payment.
¢ Members Raise Concerns About 3-2-120
Many members who heard the President’s report at the
January membership meeting have raised concern about the 3-2-120 work schedule being
planned by the company at other assembly plants. As described at the meeting,
the 3-2-120 scheme was developed for power train plants. It was never designed
for assembly operations. It consists of three crews, each working four 10-hour
days at straight time. Two-thirds of plant employees work every single Saturday
at straight time pay. Sunday work can be scheduled by the company. Chrysler has
already announced its intention to impose the 3-2-120 on the employees of
Belvidere and JNAP.
¢ Next Membership Meeting
The
next meeting of Local 1700 will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2012, at 12:00
noon at the Local 1700 Hall, 8230 East 8 Mile Road in Detroit. The agenda will
include the regular order of business, and be limited to one hour. At 1:00, or
immediately following the Membership Meeting, the local will hold our annual
Black History Month Observation.
¢ Deadline Approaches for End of Amnesty Period
Chrysler
is conducting an audit of dependent health care coverage for active workers. If
you have been claiming someone on your coverage that is not eligible, be
advised there is an amnesty period right now for you to remove them from your
coverage. You can remove an ineligible dependent by contacting Benefit Express.
If you do this by February 4, then you will not be charged for their coverage
up to now or any payments made on their behalf. However, if you don’t take care
of it by the deadline, then you may be held responsible to pay for all of the
back payments made by the company for their coverage or for their medical
expenses.
As for dependents legitimately
claimed on your coverage, you will need to submit documentation to Benefits
Express proving their relationship to you. The information on what you need is
available on DashboardAnywhere or from the Local 1700 Benefit Reps at the
plant. If you fail to respond to Benefit Express by April 5, your dependents
will be removed from your coverage until you fulfill this obligation.
¢ Change in Co-Op / Davis Vision Network
The
local has been advised that Co-Op Optical has partnered with Davis Vision,
effective January 1, 2012. The network provider has changed from NVA to the
Davis Vision network nationwide. There are no changes to benefit coverage.
Former NVA members can contact Davis Vision at (800) 282-8975. Current Davis
Vision enrollees are to continue to use the (800) 999-5431 number.
¢ If you have questions, contact
the Local 1700 Benefit Reps, Iranette Foster or Tim Davenport.
